How Merciful Can You Be, O Lord?

When my feet are always lax and indolent in running errands, you still forgive me untiringly.
How merciful can you be?

When my mouth can't hold anymore grubs due to excessive satiation, you still excuse me satisfyingly.
How merciful can you be?

When my heart cries for feeling envious of other's kudos, you caress me to make me feel I'm rich.
How merciful can you be?

When my hands ineluctably wants to hold those I desire, you still pardon me unaccusingly.
How merciful can you be?

When my head is filled with hubris, you haul me down to touch the earth.
How merciful can you be?

When my mind is loaded with worldly things, you take these away and make me realize how blessed I am.
How merciful can you be?

When my fist clenches I want to smash everything up, you hold me tight, let me crumble for a while and make me feel fine.
How merciful can you be?

Despite all these sins, you love the sinner.
How merciful can you be?

And with all your love making me whole,
HOW CAN I NOT LOVE YOU BACK?
