My Dad - True story by Troy Crouch

The longer I live, the smarter My Daddy gets, I lost my dad, in Oct, 08', and the sound of his voice still resonates in my mind and in my life, he always said, "son, there are somethings in this life that we cannot control, and those are the things that we should never worry about", I watched my daddy struggle with many issues in life, but Alcoholism was the main one, in the end, he was an over-comer, and watching him battle his demons, saved me from my own...

Generational curses are real, they are passed down from learned behavior, from seeing others we love, model that behavior, in my fathers struggles, I could see the pain, and the hurt that drove his addiction, but, unlike others in my family, he was teaching me the greatest lesson of my life  It was not the only one, for in spite of his struggles, he was the greatest dad in the world, loving, and caring, but, strong, and hard when he needed to be, yes I thank God everyday, that through it all, my dad, had the will, and the strength, to fight the good fight. He never hid his struggles, and after he conquered them, he helped many others, that were dealing with the same things, let us not give up too soon, let us never say "I can't, its too hard" because what one man can do another man can do...

And just as a good earthly father shows us the way, God Almighty did the same thing for us, in the person of Jesus Christ, He showed us, that what one man can do another man can do, IF, we will only trust Him! We all have issues....! We are all human....! Lets not be blind... but let us learn from our past mistakes, and those of others....!

Philippians 2

3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God Bless.
